NANOCEUTICALS

Development of innovative cosmetic products and dietary supplements with nanoencapsulation of natural bioactive ingredients. (NANOCEUTICALS)

Objective: The project focused on the development of innovative cosmetic products and dietary supplements from olive leaf extracts, based on natural bioactive compounds with lipolytic, antioxidant, and anti-aging properties.
The implementation of the project includes three main areas:

  1. Recovery and biotransformation of bioactive compounds: The target compounds are recovered from olive leaves using "green" solvents, such as supercritical CO2, and biotransformed into hydroxytyrosol and its derivatives using innovative biocatalytic tools.
  2. Development of nanocapsulation systems: The bioactive compounds are encapsulated through electrospray processing and spray drying, allowing the preservation of thermosensitive ingredients without the use of toxic solvents, making them ideal for cosmetics and food products.
  3. Development of final products: The nanostructures are incorporated into cosmetic creams and dietary supplements, while a Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) and cost-benefit analysis are conducted to optimize the environmental footprint and cost.
